Description

While the frequency of his tape-measure home runs began to wane, his trot around the bases slowed ever so slightly and the vigor of his all-or-nothing swings lessened in the twilight of his incomparable playing career, Babe Ruth remained, without question, the most beloved and mythical figure in American culture. This 8x10 photograph attests to Ruth’s undying appeal and is autographed by its iconic subject. His signature decorates the front of the photograph ("7") above which is the personalization To C.W. Duncan and below which is the date Aug. 12th, 1933. The addressed C. William Duncan was a sportswriter for the Philadelphia Public Ledger. The photograph itself is in approximate VG-EX condition with deference to a small pinhole in the top right corner and miniscule tearing in the top and bottom left corners. The photo has a few light, unobtrusive creases and a few surface indentations, but still is mostly bold and clear; the reverse is clean apart from light staining. Full photo LOA from JSA.
