Description

Twenty-two years after he debuted as the youngest ballplayer in major-league history, Joe Nuxhall wound down his career right back where he started, in Cincinnati. According to its Wilson code "JXC," this size 7-1/4 Reds cap was produced in March of 1966, just prior to Nuxhall's final campaign. His bold, black-marker "9" signature appears on the underside of the brim. An accompanying LOA from a Cincinnati-based memorabilia company states the cap "was brought to us with some other game used Reds items from an estate in Hamilton, OH which is where Nuxhall lived his entire life. It also has what looks like a #6 [catcher Johnny Edwards] marked inside the cap but it is very faded out." Moderate game use and age-commensurate wear with scattered small moth holes. Auction LOA from JSA.
