Opposing commanders of Civil War forces Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee are matched up once again with this one-of-a-kind trading card featuring their signatures. Forever linked in history books, these great generals are now yours to command with this exciting dual-cut autograph card.
Issued in 2007 by Upper Deck, this regal prize elegantly presents the pencil signatures of these famed military men, with Grant ("9", d.1885) signed in typical fashion as "U.S. Grant" in the card's upper window and Lee ("8", d.1870) as "R.E. Lee" with the abbreviated inscription "Capt Engrs" in the lower window. While the period of Grant's signing is undetermined, the Lee inscription positively dates his signing to the period 1838-1847, during which he held the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Presenting minimally as (NM-MT), this unique (1/1) card is printed on the reverse with UD's statement that these important signatures have been independently authenticated by a third party. This item has a reserve (estimated value $7,500 to $10,000).
