As the Patriots celebrate their 5th Super Bowl win, it's worth remembering that the 1928 Providence Steam Roller brought home New England's first NFL championship. Interestingly, the team won not by recording the most victories or by advancing in the playoffs (which didn't exist yet), but instead by having the best winning percentage. This was made possible by their mid-season triumph over the second-place Frankford Yellow Jackets, and then their 7-7 tie (not counted in the standings) in the final game against the Packers. This surviving program lists Hall of Famers Jimmy Conzelman and Curly Lambeau in the rosters. It measures 6-1/4 x 9-1/4" and rates GD due to staining in the bottom margin affecting all pages.
