After starting his career with the Baltimore Elite Giants at the age of 15, Roy Campanella had to learn his position from 40 year old Hall of Famer Biz Mackey, one of the only players who saw potential in the pudgy (seemingly unathletic) catcher. An integral component during Brooklyn's reign of Senior Circuit supremacy, Hall of Fame backstop Roy Campanella was subsequently featured in Perez Steele's 1989 "Celebration Series" set. The offered limited edition (6135/10000) example is autographed by the former great. In blue fiber tip marker, Campanella (d.1993) has signed his colorful likeness on the front of the 3-1/2 x 5-1/2" collectible. The post-accident scripting is encapsulated and graded NM-MT 8 by PSA/DNA.
Note: The PSA case is cracked on both the front and reverse.
