Description

Man-Cave alert! Quench your thirst for quality display collectibles with this vintage Blatz Beer bartop display. Fashioned in what appears to be cast aluminum metal, this heavyweight figural piece merits crossover attention from both baseball and breweriana aficionados. This unique display dates to 1953-1965, when the Braves franchise called Milwaukee home. One of the more dynamic countertop items to promote a beer brand, this visually exciting piece is prominently sized, standing approximately 17" high at the tallest point on a 9x9 irregularly molded playing field base. (4) Interchangeable pennants raise the height even further. Likely to be reproductions, these cardboard on wood shaft flags fit into two holes at the rear of the piece and feature a variety of promotional slogans with "Draft-Brewed Blatz Beer"; "Brings You The Braves On TV"; "Milwaukee's Finest Beer: and "On Draft". Three figures are featured in the design, with a beer bottle catcher, a beer keg umpire signaling safe and a beer can runner sliding into the plate and kicking up a cloud of dirt, as represented by the aforementioned irregular base shape. This overall bright and pleasing piece shows light to moderate wear with a good degree of original paint present. The bottle catcher shows the most wear, with noticeable sections of surface loss in the area between the arms, while the other two figures show only minor traces of wear. The pennants also show moderate wear including some creasing, but all remain sturdy and serviceable.
