Light up your world with this fabulous early-1960s Mickey Mantle statue lamp that would look great on an executive desk, a bar top or in any man-cave setting. From the Hartland Plastics line, this fetching collectible was produced at the height of Mickey’s playing days and is an excellent memento of his great career.
This handsome collectible reaches a height of 17-1/2” at the top of the oval shade and sits on a wood base measuring 9-1/4 x 6-3/4”. Standing atop the base is a 7” tall gold-colored Mantle figure, perhaps signifying his "gold standard" level of play. The shade is covered in linen trimmed with brown cloth and features crossed bats and baseball felt accents on the front. A bronze metal pole supports the light socket and a “Play Ball” engraved brass plate affixed to the base completes the design.
All parts appear to be original right down to the cord and plug and this piece has been tested to be in working order. Light to moderate signs of wear occur on the bill and button of the statue’s cap and the perimeter of the base, while less visible traces of minor soiling and abrasions (located mainly on the back of the statue) are detectable upon close inspection. Overall this piece remains very pleasing and ranks as a better grade (EX) example.
