When the men took up arms to go off and do battle in WWII, the women took up bats and gloves to do battle on home front diamonds. The AAGPBL was founded in 1943 and continued play through 1954, entertaining fans at a competitive level. The autographs of (6) star players from this female professional baseball league appear on the (3) items offered here. Auction LOA from JSA.

1951 Rockford Peaches broadside with season schedule at bottom signed by (2), though this colorful cardboard poster shows some minor wear in the form a few light surface wrinkles and scratches, it is likely a c.1990 reproduction, these minor bits of wear are unobtrusive and require close inspection to detect and the broadside is very appealing, the (2) signers are: (Lavone) “Pepper” Paire Davis (“9-10”) with “1944-53, Racine Belles #7, Hof 88” inscriptions referring to her career span, one of the teams she played and her inclusion in the permanent AAGPBL exhibit established at the National Baseball HOF in 1988, Davis is also credited with co-writing the league’s theme song which was made famous in the 1992 film “A League of Their Own”; and (Alma) “Ziggy” Ziegler (“7-8”) with “Grand Rapids Chicks 1944-54” inscriptions, Ziegler was a four-time all-star who enjoyed an extensive career spanning all but the first year of AAGPBL play, this 14x22 broadside is housed in a tight fitting frame that is handsome and serviceable


AAGPBL logo souvenir baseball (NM-MT) signed by (3) with average (“7”) strength attributable to minor ink migration, with (Delores) “Dolly” Brumfield with “1947-53” (included in the HOF exhibit), Jane Moffet with “Lassie 1949-52” (included in the HOF exhibit) and (Jacqueline) “Jackie” Mattson Baumgart with “50-51”
