Of all the pre-war manifestations of the Phils' iconic Quaker-themed emblem, this is among the very finest. Pennsylvania's founder, William Penn, pitches from his pedestal atop City Hall against a backdrop of field action at the Baker Bowl, with a bright-blue border—in this case, created with pristine enameling. What's more, the elegant, 1-3/8"-diameter medallion just so happens to have been issued to turn-of-the-century Phillies manager (and later owner) William Shettsline. Produced to honor the senior circuit's 50th anniversary, the season pass is engraved, "NATIONAL LEAGUE P.B.B. / GOLDEN JUBILEE / 1925 / ADMIT / WM. J. SHETTSLINE / #77," above an unidentifiable maker's mark. NM condition. Past examples of this rare item have sold at auction for as much as $3,000.
