The Baker Bowl (née Philadelphia Base Ball Grounds) opened in 1887; the Quakers became the Phillies in 1890; and Ed Delahanty batted .400 in 1894-95. Then came 1896—Nap Lajoie's rookie season and the origin of this 4-1/4 x 2-1/2" season-ticket booklet. It provided access to the Pavilion and Reporter's Box for Philly sportswriter A.E. Hunt of the Associated Press. Signed by controversial team owner Colonel John Ignatius Rogers, the piece displays VG-EX condition with tickets for games 68 and 77-80 still intact. This is the earliest Phillies season pass that we've ever encountered.
