On 2/20/62 astronaut John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth on the Friendship 7 mission during which he circled the planet three times. This green Equa Industries size 44 flight suit is signed by Glenn on the left breast (“8”) underneath “best regards” salutation. The suit is a coverall and flyers summer combination made of 92% meta-aramid, 5% para-aramid and 3% conductive fiber designed to be fire-resistant and offer protection from any number of unpredictable environmental factors. The massive suit measures 61” from top to bottom and 65” wingspan with arms extended to sides. No less than seven zipper pouches are available for storage and (4) small green felt pouches line the shoulders and collarbones. Full photo LOA from JSA.
