Style personified, Hall of Famer Pete Maravich mixed showmanship and athletic abilities into a high-scoring career that wowed fans from the playground courts to the NBA hardwood. This handwritten letter was composed and signed by Maravich on his personal "Pistol Pete Enterprises" letterhead. Written to a person who had expressed concern with him during a time when he was bedridden, it appears to be offering comfort to “Mel” who had corresponded with him. At the conclusion, Maravich has penned “Peter Maravich” in black ballpoint (“10” strength) above a John 14:27 inscription. Maravich passed away on January 5, 1988, just 43 days after this letter was written. Full photo LOA from JSA.
The letter reads:

I certainly appreciate your letters (notes) of concern. Thank you, brother. I am feeling much better, The measure of pain is only 5% of what it was and I expect it to disappear as time marches on. I no longer ride the circumstantial train. Because of His grace, goodness, mercy, joy and peace, I am flying above it. I hope this is a great day for you Mel. Thanks again for caring.
