Encapsulated and declared "Authentic" by PSA. From an archaic era marked by leather helmets, no face masks and minimal padding, this ticket stub was issued at Universal Stadium for the November 27, 1932 contest between the Chicago Bears and host Portsmouth Spartans. The two teams played to a 7-7 tie that day in a game that ultimately previewed their meeting a few weeks later with the Championship on the line. This is positively one of very few, if any, survivors, as only 7,000 poured into the 8,200-seat venue of the Portsmouth Spartans (the Spartans became the Detroit Lions in 1934.) The thick stock voucher features printed event and seating details and has some paper loss and a 2" piece of tape on the right edge, which makes the ticket technically in low grade condition, but it does present better with bold, clear print. Memorabilia from the Spartans’ four-year affiliation with the NFL is decidedly scarce and of interest for serious collectors.
