Score some tough pro football publications with this lot of (5) 1936 NFL programs. Dating from the middle of the second decade of league play, this prime group takes the field in very desirable condition. As the youthful NFL was gaining in popularity, teams were dropping in and out of the league. A major addition was the Philadelphia Eagles franchise, which joined in 1933. Another important development for the NFL was the inauguration of the Chicago College All-Star Game, which took place in 1934. At the time the college game was still pretty much king and this game helped the NFL grow by matching the league champion against a team of college All-Americans.
This important group consists of examples from early on for both of the entities mentioned above. (4) Of the offered programs hail from early Eagles history, with: 9/13/36 vs. NY Giants (EX+); 9/20/36 vs. Boston Redskins (EX); 10/11/36 vs. Detroit Lions (EX-MT); 11/22/36 vs. Brooklyn Dodgers (VG-EX). Rounding out the lot is a program from the 9/1/36 All-Star Charity Game at Soldier Field, with the College All-Americans vs. the reigning NFL Champion Detroit Lions (EX). As you can see from the assigned grades, this ancient group reports as prime collectible candidates from a period where very little of such quality is available. All of these handsome editions display vivid graphics, sharp photos/images, nice gloss and tight spines, making this lot a real prize for advanced collectors.
