The following is an excerpt from Thompson’s obituary that appeared in the 3/28/2017 edition of the Washington Post:

“BOOTS THOMPSON  Of Vienna, Va., completed her earthly journey on March 15, 2017. A true "Southern Belle," a loyal friend and a staunch Republican, Boots lived a rich, full, wonderful life. She worked in the Visitor's Office of the White House during the Reagan and the George H. W. Bush administrations. She then went on to become a staff assistant to Hayley Barbour, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, and finally she served on Lynne Cheney's White House staff during the George W. Bush administration”.
