One of the great wrestling heels of the 1960s wrestling world enters the bidding ring, with this Gorilla Monsoon signed 8" x 10" publicity photograph. Assuming the persona of a non-English speaking, bearded villain from Manchuria, Monsoon thrilled audiences as one of WWWF champion Bruno Sammartino's chief rivals, in both one-on-one and tag-team matches. After a decade of crushing opponents with the Manchurian Splash and the Airplane Spin, the 400+ pound Monsoon became a "face" in the 1970s, turning into one of the WWWF's great fan favorites. The clean-shaven Monsoon (d.1999) is seen flashing a big grin in a heart inset, in this genial photograph, which is hand-dated 9/21/85 on the back. The mountainous Monsoon has signed with ("8.5") potency, by means of a purple fiber-tip marker.
