Finally recognized as a contender, the expansion Montreal Expos enjoyed a 20-3 stretch during the summer of 1994 and found themselves alone atop the National League standings with the best record in baseball. A season-ending strike ensued, as did a fire sale and a fan base which simply (and justifiably) stopped following the team. This cap was worn by star outfielder Rondell White during that franchise peak and subsequent decline. With a tagging style that dates to 1994-1996, this blue wool uniform item features the avant-garde “M” logo embroidered to the front center in red-white-and-blue, while a blue button secures the six-point crown suspension. An MLB silhouette logo is embroidered to the back. The interior sweatband is home to a “New Era” label and a size “7-1/4” tag. On the bill’s underside, a blue marker notation of White’s number “22” is flanked by inscriptions of “AW” and “EW” (initials of White’s family members). Heavy use is evident with perspiration-induced stains and dirt remnants throughout. This item originates from a prominent Expos/Nationals collection and is accompanied by a full photo LOA from Phil Wood.
