So great was Chase's reputation as a defensive first baseman that, despite his unsavory gambling habits and subsequent banishment, Prince Hal was still considered a Hall of Fame candidate and received 29 votes in the 1936/1937 balloting. A few years after that, he was featured in a where-are-they-now article for the Sporting News, advertised here. The 11x14 display sign is headlined "What Has Become of Hal Chase: Game's Greatest First Sacker Rues Mistakes in Relating History," and it also promotes a contest to win a "Free Trip to World's Series." Clean central area with corner wear/creasing and perimeter toning.
