More than just a tribute to Jack Johnson's bout against Jim Flynn, this 15x19 poster uniquely pays homage to the other leading black boxers of the period—Joe Gans, Sam McVey, Young Godfrey, Joe Jeannette, Joe Gains, Sam Langford and Geo. Dixon. We've never seen another example, thus making this an exceedingly rare piece of memorabilia that transcends the sports realm as a Civil Rights collectible to boot. There's a front-side copyright line for producer Charles Gustrine of Chicago and a reverse-side stamping for a Des Moines distributor. Largely clean condition with corner creasing/chipping that has tape reinforcement on the back.
