Braves on the warpath! Issued at pre-season exhibitions, these (7) vintage stadium-issued publications include:


1936: issued at Chicago’s Soldier Field on September 11, 1936, this 16-page guide hails from the franchise’s final season in Boston. With covers and pages intact, the guide presents (VG) with a vertical compacting fold.


1938: issued at Kezar Stadium for the January 16, 1938 battle between the NFL Champion Washington Redskins and the Pacific Coast All-Stars, the 16-page guide presents minimally at the (EX) plateau with covers and crisp pages completely intact and free of creases/fold inherent to most stadium-issued publications of this era. A small tear on the right edge of the front cover has been mended by a vintage piece of transparent tape.


1939: a four-page official souvenir program issued on August 28 at San Francisco’s Seals Stadium for an exhibition between the Washington Redskins and Buck Shaw’s All-Stars. Shaw, then the head coach at Santa Clara, went on to coach the Philadelphia Eagles and hand Vince Lombardi his first and only postseason loss. The item presents (GD) with vertical and horizontal compacting folds, as well as penciled notations on the interior rosters.


1940: issued at Fenway Park for the September 10, 1940 exhibition between the Washington Redskins and Eastern All-Stars, the eight-page guide presents (GD) with covers/pages intact. There is moisture-induced wrinkling and discoloration throughout.


1942: issued at the Los Angeles Coliseum on August 30 for the Washington Redskins vs. Army All-Stars Army Relief Benefit Game, the 12-page guide presents (EX-MT) with covers and crisp pages completely intact. The item is free of creases or compacting folds commonly found on souvenirs of this era. The ‘Skins went on to win the NFL title that year.


1943: issued at Buffalo’s Civic Stadium for the September 26 exhibition between the defending Champion Redskins and Chicago Cardinals, the 16-page guide presents (VG-EX) with a vertical compacting crease. Covers and all pages remain intact.


1944: issued at the Los Angeles Coliseum on August 25 for the Army Charities Football Game between the Washington Redskins and March Field All-Stars, the 16-page program presents (VG) with covers/pages intact. These is minor paper loss on the back cover and penciled notations on the roster pages. A ticket stub from that day’s game is included.
