In an era marked by archaic equipment, rules and facilities, this scorecard was issued at Harlem’s Polo Grounds for the June 3, 1885 American Association contest between the Louisville Colonels and New York Metropolitans. The thick stock item measures 7-1/4 x 5-7/8” and features pre-printed lineups and scoring grids marked in graphite pencil to document a 10-4 New York win. With both combatants already buried in the standings behind the St. Louis Browns, the Colonels were in the midst of a 22-game road trip, which was promptly followed by a 25-game home stand! The scorecard presents nicely and has a vertical compacting fold. Additionally, there is minor paper loss on the cover, which appears to be the result of previous mounting.
