Through a storied history of 135 years, the current Los Angeles franchise has been called the Atlantics, Grooms, Bridegrooms, Superbas, Robins and Dodgers, undergoing no fewer than nine mascot name changes and calling both the east and west coasts home. Issued at Washington Park on August 11, 1884, this scorecard hails from the club’s first-ever Major League season! The thick stock American Association item measures 7-1/2 x 6” (unfolded) and features pre-printed lineups and scoring grids marked in graphite pencil to document a 2-0 Brooklyn triumph in which 19-year-old Adonis Terry logged one of his 19 mound wins (offset by 35 losses, incidentally). The piece presents (VG) with a colorful front cover illustration, a fold at the center and some minor edge wear. This is quite possibly the earliest Dodgers artifact extant!
