Of Vietnamese descent, former southpaw Jim Parque was mentored by former Dodgers star Jerry Reuss and eventually enjoyed a six-year career in the big leagues. Prior to his debut on the South Side of Chicago, Parque wore this ensemble as a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team. Includes:
Jersey: a blue mesh button-down garment with “USA” sewn across the chest in white-on-red twill (the “S” is sewn in the opposite color scheme) and “42” sewn to the back and left front in like fashion. Just above the back numerals, “PARQUE” is arched on a nameplate in solid white block-style characters. The tapered left front tail is home to a “Russell Athletic” size “44” label and a fabric content flap tag.
Pants: white knit leg wear with seven belt hoops, two satin-lined back pockets and a two-button zippered fly. Within the elasticized waistband, a “Russell Athletic” size “34” label is accompanied by a fabric content flap tag and a black marker notation of “42.”
All original with no repairs or alterations, the items show light wear.
Also included is a near-white OML baseball (grade “8”) signed by Parque on the sweet spot (“8-9’ strength) in blue ballpoint. Included, as well, is a 1998 Leaf Baseball #307 Jim Parque rookie card (NM).
