Description



While their baseball counterparts fled to the left coast, the New York football Giants have remained a Big Apple staple, securing three NFL titles and four Super Bowl championships throughout their storied history. Revisiting some of those glorious seasons, here are (35) stadium-issued programs from the club’s years at the Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium. Covers and pages are intact throughout as guides present (EX) or better (unless otherwise noted). Includes:

 

1942:

December 6 vs. Brooklyn Dodgers (Polo Grounds); program issued for what was thought to be Hall of Famer Mel Hein’s last game. Set to become the coach of Union College, Hein returned to the Giants for three more seasons as the school put its football program on hiatus due to World War II.

1945:

October 21 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (Polo Grounds); program is (VG) with vertical compacting fold and penciled notations throughout

November 18 vs. Detroit Lions (Polo Grounds); program is (VG) with vertical compacting fold

1950:

October 22 vs. Cleveland Browns (Polo Grounds)

1954:

August 21 vs. Chicago Cardinals (exhibition game at Memorial Stadium in Spokane, Washington); program is (VG-EX) with vertical compacting fold, cover wear and penciled notations

1961:

October 22 vs. Los Angeles Rams (Yankee Stadium); program is (VG-EX) with vertical compacting fold

November 5 vs. Washington Redskins (Yankee Stadium)

November 12 vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Yankee Stadium)
