Born in 1922, Stan Lee got his first job in the comic book industry at the age of seventeen in 1939. Lee got his start as a “gofer” with publisher Martin Goodman’s “Timely Comics” division. In 1941 Lee got his first writing assignment for issue #3 of Captain America Comics and for eight decades he remained active in the comics business, turning out an incredible body of work and positioning Marvel Comics as a multi-media giant. Lee, who passed away in November, 2018 a bit shy of his 96th birthday, has signed (“9”) the offered 2006 Rittenhouse Archives "The Complete Avengers 1963-Present” factory certified SketchaFEX insert card (NM-MT). Fittingly this card features a hand-drawn sketch of Captain America, making for an excellent reminder of Lee's first ever comic book story writing assignment.
