Description

Worn in the Mission Valley during the first decade of the expansion San Diego Padres, (3) of these (4) game-worn caps feature “SD” embroidered to the gold-colored front panel in brown-on-orange interlocking letters. A fourth cap (dating to the mid-1980s) features "SD" embroidered in yellow to a solid brown front panel. Each has a button atop the six-point crown suspension. Sewn to each interior sweatband, a “New Era” tag dates to the late-1970s (two have size tags). One shows no wear and three show heavy game wear with perspiration-induced discoloration throughout. Among the identifiable players are Gene Tenace (“18” inscribed on bill’s underside) and Brent Strom (“#22” and “7”) inscribed on interior. Accompanying is an LOA from a former Padres executive.
