Description

The first super-hero zooms into action with this collection of (367) unread comic books. These Modern Age issues feature Superman and his many friends. There may have been a few other attempts back in the 1930s to establish caped hero characters (who quickly faded into to oblivion), however Superman stands tall as the one who really gave the super-hero genre its start. Celebrating his 81st birthday this year, "The Man of Steel" continues to maintain a top spot in the upper echelon of comic book heroes.

This big bundle of pristine Superman comics shows plenty of muscle, with a grade average of (VF-NM 9.0 to NM-MT 9.8) and for a real big plus, (141) issues are signed by contributing artists and writers. These signatures generally show resolute (average "8" to "10") potency, though a very few present as lesser due to ink migration. A spot check of recent sales for similar autographed issues, indicates that this group represents "Super" value. The unsigned contingent ain't no slouch either, with fan favorite issues such as Action Comics #1,000, Adventures of Superman #500 and (30+) TPBs, along with special issues like the Superman-Wonder Woman "Gone with the Wind" variant and several other variants.

All of these lots feature high grade comics, with a good number that are signed by the artists. Solof, who worked at Geppi's Entertainment Museum in Baltimore as the "Collection and Exhibits Manager", has stated that he personally acquired the autographs directly from the artists. Please see our Americana/Comics category to review this collection.

Due to considerable weight, this lot will incur a significant shipping fee.
