A noble maverick whose mission was to protect the helpless and indigenous Southern California natives from exploitation, fictional hero Zorro was portrayed on the silver screen by the likes of Douglas Fairbanks and Tyrone Power before reaching his peak in popularity on the 1957-1959 Walt Disney television series. It was the ever-popular latter production that spawned retail sales of this authentic Zorro costume. This is a rare and amazing survivor in terms of completion and condition! The size “MEDIUM (8 TO 10)” ensemble includes a pair of black pants, a black pullover collared shirt, a satin-like cape and a plastic mask. The clothing components appear to be unworn. The original retail box and lid are included and have survived 60 years with only minor edge wear.
Also included is a 12x16” thick cardboard counter top advertising placard hawking the show and its 7up sponsor. The piece presents beautifully with vibrant colors and the easel back completely intact. A 1958 hardcover edition of Zorro (Whitman Publishing) is also included.
