Description

Intimidating on the mound, Hall of Famer Don Drysdale was perhaps just as feared at the plate as he launched 29 career home runs. This particular bat was brandished by “Double D” during the 1964 season in which he delivered 16 of his 218 career hits. The Hillerich & Bradsby (35.5”, 34-oz) “H178” signature model war club is an uncracked example with Drysdale’s number “53” inscribed on both the knob and barrel end in vintage black marker. Members of the 1964 roster have signed the barrel in black ink. While the signatures have faded over time, the legible scriptings (average “3” strength) include those of: Tommy Davis, Leo Durocher (coach), Jim Gilliam, Derrell Griffith, Sandy Koufax, Wally Moon, Johnny Podres, Howie Reed, Pete Richert, Jeff Torborg and Lee Walls. The weapon shows minimal use with surface marks throughout. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from John Taube, PSA/DNA (for bat authenticity). While the autographs are presumed legitimate, there is no third-party authentication due to time/cost constraints and their faded condition.
