For the ultimate Nolan Ryan collector, we present this 1966 Greenville Mets team-signed baseball that includes the autograph of your favorite pitcher. At the tender age of 19, flamethrower Ryan spent brief periods with the MLB NY Mets and the Class AA Williamsport Mets, but for the bulk of the '66 season he pitched at Class A Greenville. Clocked at about 100 mph on his fastball throughout his four decade career, "The Ryan Express" roared through his lone season in the Western Carolinas League, going 17-2 with a 2.51 ERA and 272 K's in 183 IP while stationed at Greenville. Certainly there is no shortage in supply of Nolan Ryan signed baseballs, but good luck finding another example from his minor league days that is as attractive as this period-signed ball.
This ancient orb is stamped simply on the reverse sweet spot with "Greenville Mets" as the lone source indicator present. Toned to a fairly even light-tan shade with deference to some light abrasions on the unsigned sweet spot, this fifty-three year old ball retains sufficient condition quality to rate as (EX). Applied to the four side panels of this ball are (9) 1966 Greenville Mets autographs displaying average ("8-9") strength with: Nolan Ryan, MLB Mets teammate Duffy Dyer, Joe Campbell who had three at-bats with the Chicago Cubs in 1967 and minor leaguers Nyal Leslie, Steve Wright, Mike Mitchell, Mike Kenyon, Hal Roberson and Fred Reahm.
