Every Spring Training brings a clean slate to baseball teams and is a time to let hopes ride high. In 1973 the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants had plenty to look forward to, as both teams were blessed with rosters full of stars. Unfortunately for them, they were stuck playing in the same division as Pete Rose and his “Big Red Machine” teammates, so they had to settle for second and third place respectively. Recall the high hopes of ‘73 with this Dodgers team-signed Spring Training program from a game vs the Giants at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. This Giants version program (VG-EX) features (24) Dodgers autographs on the front and back covers, including HOF manager Walt Alston and broadcaster extraordinaire Vin Scully, who called Dodgers games on air for seven decades and is still doing so in his sleep. Auction LOA from JSA.
