10/10/56 With front cover coverage of Mickey Mantle racking up a “Triple Crown” season. For his prodigious output Mantle was awarded the first of his three MVP awards in 1956 and as noted on the front cover and was also chosen TSN’s 1956 “Outstanding Player” for the A.L. Also seen on the front cover are N.L. “Outstanding Player” Hank Aaron, A.L. top pitcher Billy Pierce and N.L. top pitcher Don Newcombe.
10/17/56 with interior coverage of Don Larson’s perfect game in the World Series. Seen on the front cover are the candidates for the first ever CY Young award with Whitey Ford, Warren Spahn, Herb Score, Bob Friend, Frank Lary, Sal Maglie, Billy Pierce and '56 CY winner Don Newcombe, who also won the NL MVP award that year.
