What a time it was to be a sports fan in New York City during the late '50s and early '60s. Sure Boston was the center of the basketball universe and Toronto was enjoying its last great hockey dynasty, but the "Big Apple" was bursting with pride over perennial baseball champions the Yankees with home run kings Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, the Mets and Titans (Jets) were just hitting town and the football Giants earned six Eastern Conference championships during the eight year period of 1956-1963, taking some of the sting out the Dodgers and baseball Giants relocating to the "Golden West". Unfortunately for New York's footballers, the Green Bay Packers were the Western Division champions in 1961 and 1962 and beat the Giants in the NFL Championship Game both years, on their way to five total championships in the 1960s under peerless coach Vince Lombardi.
Ok, enough with the history lesson. Here we have a 1962 NFL Championship Game program from Yankee Stadium with the Packers vs the Giants. Chock full of Giants and Packers recent history and lots of player photos, this big game souvenir shows bold cover colors, a tight spine, and clean, supple pages, however creasing at the bottom right corner restricts the grade designation to (VG-EX), though it presents at least a grade higher otherwise.
