Securing the franchise’s first pennant since 1914, the 1948 Boston Braves were felled by the Indians in a Native American-themed Fall Classic, the club’s last before departing for better attendance and better fortunes in Milwaukee. Turned in limited quantities by Kentucky’s hallowed Hillerich & Bradsby plant, this World Series black bat pays homage to that 1948 Senior Circuit championship roster. The 35” display relic features a deep brown patina and gold-colored facsimile signature stampings of Braves players under contract with H&B (and block-letter stampings of those who did not wield H&B bats). Keys include Alvin Dark, Johnny Sain, Billy Southworth, Warren Spahn and Eddie Stanky. This rare survivor presents beautifully with very minimal surface wear at the end of the barrel.
