Description

Grooming to replace Pete Rose at the hot corner, Ray Knight wore this Cincinnati Reds road jersey during the 1978 campaign. The gray knit pullover garment features “CINCINNATI” arched across the chest in red twill, “25” sewn to the back and left front in like fashion and “KNIGHT” arched atop the back number in red block-style characters. Red-and-white striped stretch ribbed knit lines the sleeve ending and V-neck collar. Within the left side seam, a “Wilson” size “42” label is accompanied by a strip tag with chain-stitched “78” and “1” identifiers. The Senior Circuit gamer shows moderate wear and the name on back is a restoration, as a nameplate outline remains from when the jersey was recycled for minor league use. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from Dave Miedema.
