Description

As the Ruth photo sector has become increasingly popular among collectors in recent years, so too has the subsector of "Ruth with kids" photos. The Bambino devoted himself to his young fans whenever possible, through mentorship, hospital visits, baseball tutelage and more. Here's a top-notch 7x9 example of Ruth doting on children, with an interesting detail that the photographer tripped the shutter at the exact moment when the ball was hovering above the bat, having been lightly tapped upward by Ruth. A 6/2/39 news-clipping caption reads, "Babe Ruth, ex-king of swat, shows ambitious youngsters how to use the bat at the Court of Sport at the New York World's fair. He wears his famous No. 3 New York Yankee uniform." Typical minor peripheral newsroom wear. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
