The idol of millions and resultantly, a marketing cash cow, diamond icon Babe Ruth is the subject of these images that enticed fans to purchase a product. Includes:
(3) 1926 M101-7 The Sporting News Supplements: each is a 7-1/8 x 9-7/8” sheet with a sepia-toned photo and blank reverse. Issued in the December 30, 1926 issue, the keepsakes reminded fans to look ahead to the 1927 season (and what a season it would be!) All are crease-free with minor edge fissures.
(2) 1934 Quaker Oats Premium Photos: each is a crease-free blank-back 8x10” black-and-white photo of the unparalleled slugger swinging for the fences in his Yankee pinstripes. Issued during Ruth’s final season in the Bronx, the keepsakes were rewards for members of the cereal’s sponsored “Boys Club” and feature Ruth’s facsimile signature and “To My Pal” salutation.
