Elect the "Chairman of the Board" to your collection with this 1950s William Jacobellis Type I photograph. This original 4x5 photo features the image of Yankees HOF hurler "Whitey" Ford that was used for both his 1954 and 1955 Red Man Tobacco cards. In keeping with the high quality work Jacobellis is known for, this senior citizen photo dazzles with a sharply defined image and excellent gloss. While a small bit of surface loss occurs on the top border, proper matting will easily remedy the situation. Also noted is Ford's name written ink in the upper field area, which could also be matted over if desired. The name was likely applied by an editor during the trading card production process, as were the notations written on the reverse side. Also appearing on the reverse is Jacobellis' photographer credit stamp. While the described surface loss forces a rating of (GD), this photo otherwise presents solid EX detail.
