Having made the historic (and by most accounts, generous) call of “Strike three” to end Don Larsen’s perfect Game in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series, former umpire Babe Pinelli (d.1984) gained fame for his role in that baseball rarity. This ball is autographed by the former arbiter. The gorgeous clean and creamy ONL Giles orb (grade “9”) dates to 1952-1957 and is signed and personalized by Pinelli on a side panel. In black-ink steel tip fountain pen, Pinelli has signed (“6” strength) and inscribed “umpire – Perfect game – October 8, 1956.” Auction LOA from JSA
