Description

The year began with a bang as the New York Jets staged a stunning upset of the Baltimore Colts to win Super Bowl III on January 12, 1969. Exactly nine months later, the New York Mets won their first of four straight World Series games to supplant Baltimore’s heavily favored Orioles as World Series champions. These (2) photographs capture the raucous celebration and are autographed by the principals of that “Amazin’” Shea Stadium installment. Includes:

1969 World Series Game 5 Celebration: framed to 27-3/4 x 23-3/4”, a 20x16” color photo shows the mayhem at Shea Stadium following the final out of the Mets’ improbable conquest. As Orioles first base coach George Staller walks off the diamond, stunned, Mets players and fans pour onto the field in a mob scene that won’t soon be forgotten. In blue marker, (24) Mets autographs average (“9”) potency and include: Berra (coach), Boswell, Cardwell, Charles, Clendenon, DiLauro, Dyer, Garrett, Grote, Harrelson, Jackson, Jones, Koosman, Kranepool, Martin, McAndrew, Pignatano, Ryan, Seaver, Shamsky, Swoboda, Taylor, Weis and Yost (coach).
