An oft-forgotten 7-time All Star, "Indian Bob" was in the junior circuit's Top 10 for home runs and RBIs through most of his 1930s tenure with the A's. His numbers eventually dropped off with the 1943 Senators but picked up again with the 1944 Red Sox, when he batted .324 with 40 doubles, 106 RBIs and a league-leading .431 on-base percentage. This contract assignment finalized that move north "for the sum of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) cash said money to be paid to the Washington Club on January 2nd, 1944." It features the black-ink signatures of Washington owner Clark Griffith ("10") and Red Sox GM Eddie Collins ("8"). Measuring 8-1/2" x 11", the thin, almost onionskin-stock paper is in bright, clean EX condition with several fold lines. Auction LOA from JSA.
