Setting his sights on a standard once deemed unreachable, Cal Ripken Jr. simply showed up at the ball park every day – for 14 seasons – and on September 6, 1995, eclipsed Lou Gehrig’s record of 2,130 consecutive games played. Celebrating the occasion, Ripken put his handprints (quite literally) and autograph on this impressive display. Measuring 28x13”, the sturdy wooden platform is home to an 8x10” color photo of Ripken, which is signed in black marker (“10” strength). To the left, a granite slab features Ripken’s embedded gold-colored handprints. Note: there are minor chips at the corners, which do not detract from the central features. Auction LOA from JSA
