Established in 1927, the Ryder Cup was long dominated by the United States, until the Great Britain/Ireland team was expanded to include continental Europe in 1979. This offering features several notable matches, including the 1989 Azinger/Ballesteros dispute, the 1991 "War on the Shore" (culminating with Bernhard Langer's missed final putt) and the 1999 "Battle of Brookline" (where the US team was accused of excessive celebration).
