One of the great hurlers of the early 20th Century makes a pitch for your attention with this vintage photograph. Featured is legend Christy Mathewson, who starred with the New York Giants from 1900-1916. Posthumously voted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the "first class" in 1936, "Big Six" racked up some incredible stats, including a miserly 2.13 career ERA and 373 wins. Mathewson is seen in a pitching pose, wearing a uniform with plain block lettering that is consistent in style to those worn by the Giants from 1904-1907. Measuring 3x5, this ancient photo shows (FR-GD) condition quality with a couple of creases, a small tear at bottom center and a small notch of surface loss that affects the white border only at bottom right. The image is distinct, abundant gloss is noted and the surface is clean. With proper matting this important HOFer photo will make a great display piece.
