As the Columbus Jets debuted in the 1955 International League, one of Ohio’s favorite sons was on hand for the entirety of the April 20 home opener against the Rochester Red Wings. A legendary hurler with a record 511 career triumphs, Cy Young came out to support the Kansas City Athletics affiliate and autographed this program. Issued that day at Jet Stadium, the 16-page guide is signed on the front cover by Young (d.1955). Executed in graphite pencil, Young’s endorsement projects (“8-9”) potency and is among his last autographs, as he passed away less than seven months later. The program presents nicely with covers and thick-stock pages completely intact. The scoring grids are marked in pencil to document a 6-5 Jets win. There is a vertical compacting fold, which does not impinge upon the quality of the bold signature. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
