Stricken and ravaged by cancer, Babe Ruth underwent experimental treatment beginning on June 29, 1947. Administered a new drug, a synthetic relative of folic acid, he showed remarkable improvement and by September, was touring the country doing promotional work for American Legion Baseball and Ford. Along his journey (with his cancer in remission), Ruth stopped in Copake Falls, New York, where he signed and sent this postcard. The postcard features a black-and-white photo of the Taconic Inn resort. On the reverse, the postmark reads "SEP 19 1947" and a companion of Ruth has written: “Weather beautiful, Babe feeling relaxed and pretty well. Shall see you soon.” At the conclusion, a number of persons (including “Gordon” and “Madeline”) have signed in black-ink steel tip fountain pen, as has Ruth. Ruth has signed “Babe” and the scripting projects (“8-9”) quality. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
