Description

Owned by one of baseball's greats, this dynamic whiskey decanter is decorated with images of three of the biggest sports legends of all-time. Presented is a captivating three-sided glass bottle featuring high relief likenesses of Babe Ruth, Jim Thorpe and John L. Sullivan. Finished with gold paint, this sporty receptacle stands nearly 9" tall, with a 3" diameter base and a 1" diameter opening at top. Graced with realistic renderings this fantastic creation shows only light traces of paint wear and radiates display appeal. Hallmarked on the bottom with "Tiara", this ancient vessel was produced c.1920s and is now on the doorstep of full antique status as it approaches one hundred years of age. Accompanying is a letter of provenance from the Ted Williams Museum & Hitters Hall of Fame, stating this piece was owned by Ted Williams, who donated it to the museum in 1994 as part of the Babe Ruth display. In addition to being owned by the renowned sportsman and all around great American, research indicates this is the only painted version of this ancient decanter, with all other examples being clear. This in turn suggests this painted version was employed for a deluxe reserve batch of spirits.
