While the cast of characters underwent a few changes during the New York Yankees’ record run of five successive World Series titles, the sum of each overall combination was an indomitable roster to which none could compare. Smack in the middle of that unparalleled reign, this original Type I photograph was autographed by four rightfully confident Bronx Bombers. Captured following a 1951 road triumph (possibly a Polo Grounds locker room shot after either Game 4 or 5 of the World Series), the 14 x 11-1/8” black-and-white photo depicts simultaneous exhaustion and jubilance. Each has signed in black-ink steel tip fountain pen. Seated from left to right are: Johnny Mize (“6-7” strength); Joe DiMaggio (“7-8” strength); and Yogi Berra (“8” strength). Standing in the back with his hand draped over DiMaggio’s left shoulder is rookie Gil McDougald (“7-8” strength). The vintage photo has a series of creases and small fissures, the vast majority of which are confined to the borders. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
