Description

Supplanting “Murderers Row” as the (then) most dominant dynasty in Yankees history, the 1936-1939 installments won four successive World Series crowns. The ’37 roster duplicated its previous year’s 102-win total, pacing the circuit in home runs (174), runs scored (979), team earned run average (3.65) and complete games (82) while posting winning marks against every American League opponent. This baseball is autographed by (19) members of that 1937 Bronx club. The medium-toned OAL Harridge sphere dates to 1934-1939 and features black-ink steel tip fountain pen signatures that range from (“6”) to (“4”) in terms of strength and clarity. Includes: Sweet Spot: Gehrig (d.1941, “5” strength); North Panel: Combs (“6” strength), Selkirk (clubhouse), Jorgens, Hadley, Glenn and Chandler; South Panel: Makosky, Hoag, Saltzgaver, Lazzeri (d.1946, “4-5” strength), Henrich, Dickey (“4-5” strength), Wicker and Crosetti; West Panel: Gomez (clubhouse), Powell (d.1948) and Pearson (clubhouse); East Panel: Ruffing (“4” strength), Murphy, Heffner, Rolfe and DiMaggio (clubhouse). Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
