With the holiday season approaching, one of the things we look forward to is cookies. Just in time to hoard your holiday treats, we present this 1950s Gibbs-Conner Milwaukee Braves mascot head cookie jar. This gargantuan ceramic figural is about as big as the head of an adult human and the lid opens to a cavernous compartment with ample storage space. An early version of the Braves "Chief Noc-A-Homa", this deluxe creation is all display appeal with bold colors, abundant gloss and attention grabbing features. Wear is restricted to a couple of small scratches between the left ear and the feathers at rear, along with a few pinpoint color breaks above the left cheek and on the nose, which may just be factory firing flaws and in any case are unobtrusive to display. Readily dating this piece to the 1950s is a gold circle at the top of the feathers, impressed with the word "Braves" and the letter "M" indicating Milwaukee. Considering its senior citizen age and the fragile nature of ceramic decoratives, this hardy survivor has well withstood the test of time to rate as a solid (NM) example.
